Kalaburagi: The third additional civil court here put the district administration in an embarrassing situation by ordering the auction of furniture in the office of the district deputy commissioner (DC) here towards clearance of a farmer’s dues.

The court passed its order in favor of the farmer, Puru Lachamu Lamani Rathod since the district administration had been harassing Rathod by not paying him any compensation for his agricultural land that was acquired by the government ten years ago.

Judge of the court, S L Chavan, passed the order of auction of furniture in DC’s office. However to save the DC’s office from embarrassment, the DC sought and a week’s time to act on the courts order.

When Rathod, accompanied by his lawyer, Muralidhar Poojary, arrived at the office of the DC on Wednesday with the auction order and handed over a copy to the DC, the DC, Ujjwal Kumar Ghosh, was shocked.

The DC who was unaware of the background of the case, regained composure quickly and got all the details relating to the case and studied them. He realized the gravity of the situation and immediately filed a request through the public prosecutor seeking a week’s time, duly promising to disburse the compensation to the farmer by then.
The court considered his request and temporarily stayed the auction order.
