Kalaburagi: Angry over the demand for a house sanctioned under the housing scheme, the Vice-President’s husband and son allegedly assaulted the man in District. The man, who was seriously injured, succumbed to his injuries at Andolan in Jewargi Taluk of the District.

The deceased has been identified as Basavaraj (35). Panchayat Vice-President’s husband Siddappa and son Gururaj demanded for Rs. 25,000 from Basavaraj to allot him a Government house in Andolana Panchayat. They demanded a bribe. In response, the man had said that he did not have that much money and when he gets the bill he would give.

But when they refused, Basavaraj informed the villagers that the Panchayat Vice-President’s husband was demanding a bribe to give him a house. Angered by this, the Vice-President’s husband and son assaulted him.
