Kalaburagi: Deprived of the benefits of caste reservation and struggling to make a living by depending on the barber profession, the Savita Community in the State has been looked down upon by the Government. A strong struggle is needed to convey the pain of caste to the Government of the Savita Community. The time has come to organise a struggle and an emergency meeting of State-level Savita Community leaders and office-bearers of Savita Sanghas has been convened at Savita Maharshi College in Jayanagar, Bengaluru on Tuesday January 3 at 10 am,” stated Maharshi Savita Peetham, Kongur President Savithanatha Swamiji.

In a press release, Swamiji stated that the existing reservation has not been able to strengthen the Savita community educationally, socially and economically. The final report of the Backward Classes Commission and the Ethnographic Study has already been submitted to the Government in this regard, he added.

He complained that the Government has not thought of increasing the reservation for the Savita Community, which has the largest population in the State, by implementing the constitutionally mandated reports.

A memorandum has been submitted to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Ministers and MLAs. However, they have only got an assurance that the demand will be fulfilled and the demand has not been fulfilled, he explained.

Swamiji alleged that the Government has only given in to the communities which have shown strength through struggle.
