Bengaluru: Kannada Sahithya Parishat has sought Rs.14 cr for the 85th Kannada Sahithya Sammelana to be held in Kalaburugi between February 5 and 7 from the state government.
According to Manu Baligar, Chairman, Kannada Sahithya Parishat, a sum of Rs 11 cr was released last year.
“We have sent the detailed budget estimation to the state government in this regard,” he stated.
“Kalaburugi DC B Sharat, who is also the treasurer of the reception committee sent letters to the state government and Kannada and Culture minister CT Ravi,” he explained.
He also denied the allegations that Parishat failed to protect its autonomy during the Chikkamagaluru district Kannada Sahithya Sammelana, held recently in Sringeri. ” I never asked the district parishat to change the chair,” he said.
It can be recalled that Chikkamagaluru district Kannada Sahithya Sammelana was curtailed by a day following a threat by a few Hindutva forces.
