Pranavanand Swami renounces sanyasa, gets married

Kalaburagi: Pranavanand Swami of Sharanabasaveshwar Mutt, Aremallapur in Haveri district renounced sanyasa and got married at the Shanaranabasaveshwara Temple in Kalaburagi city on Monday, November 7.

Pranavananda Swami, who is from Kerala, married Mira, who is also from the same State.

Mira is a final year M. Com student who is also pursuing a chartered accountancy course. She is said to have come into contact with the swami, when she attended programmes conducted by him. Later, this relationship blossomed into a love affair. Mira said that she had the consent of her parents.

The Peethadhipathi of Sharanabasaveshwara Samsthana Sharanabasappa Appa, Sri Rama Sene Chief Pramod Muthalik and a host of religious heads from various mutts witnessed the wedding ceremony conducted as per Hindu rituals.

The swami told mediapersons, “I have decided to follow the footsteps of the peetathipathi of the Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan.”. He said pressure from his mother and persuasion by some elders also led to the marriage.
