Kalaburgi: In a big relief to the organising committee of the 85th Kannada Sahithya Sammelana, which is to be held in Kalaburgi from February 5 to February 7, the state government has released Rs.10 crores as funding.
The committee had actually sought Rs.14 crore but the state government has sanctioned only Rs 10 crores.
It can be recalled that the state government had released Rs.10 crores for the 84th Kannada Sahithya Sammelana, which was held in Dharwad two years ago.
Speaking to reporters, Kalaburgi DC Sharat B informed that the funds have been released and will be credited to the committee account within two days.
He also informed that Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol was in touch with him and that the DCM himself was reviewing the preparations every day. “If he (Karjol) visits Kalaburgi, it will result in time-consuming meetings. So, he is monitoring the progress from Bengaluru,” Sharat stated.
