Koppal: The delapidated roof of a house collapsed and killed three members of a family in the Yalamagera village of Koppal on Tuesday, October 15 morning.
The deceased are identified as Sujatha (22), Amaresha (18) and Gavisiddappa (15), all siblings. Somanna Kudarimoti, the father miraculously escaped the tragedy.
The family of four were reportedly sleeping outside but had to move inside the house after it started raining.
Reportedly, the siblings died on the spot after a heavy rafter and mud fell on them. The father managed to survive as he was sleeping in another room of the house.
In another incident, a 45-year-old man died after being struck by lightning in Kudarihal village, Ranebennur.
The deceased has been identified as Shivanandappa Balannanavar, who was said to be ploughing his farmland when he was struck by lightning.
Ballari, Uttara Kannada and parts of the Shivamogga district experienced heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. More than 20 houses and standing crops are said to have been damaged by the rains.
