Koppal: The burial ground land, which has been used for cremation for generations, has been acquired. The villagers of Dyampur submitted a memorandum to Tahasildar Neelaprabha and warned him that they would boycott the elections if it was not returned.

The last rites are being performed at Survey No. 225 in Dyampur Village. At present, the land should be acquired for the cremation ground and immediately entered as ‘land acquisition’ for the cremation ground in Section 11 of the Act, villagers demanded.

The landowners have sold the land to others. At the time of the change of khata, a petition was filed by the villagers. Accordingly, the Taluk Magistrate has fixed the muddat thrice and conducted an inquiry. Prior to the last hearing, the Magistrate personally visited Survey No. 225 to take stock of the situation and found that there was a graveyard.
