Koppal: As the Mangaluru police firing incident echoed during the joint session of both Houses of the state legislative bodies, leading to a verbal war between the ruling BJP government and the Opposition parties, the latter urged for a thorough probe into the matter, while state health minister B Sreeramulu had something else to say.
Addressing the media on Thursday, February 20, he said, “The Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah is urging for a judicial inquiry into the Mangaluru police firing incident. According to me, there is absolutely no need for it. If you watch the CCTV footage, it is clearly visible that miscreants from local organizations had pelted stones at the police and injured them. There is no wrong on the part of the Mangaluru Police and state home minister Basavaraj Bommai has given clarification on this in the House. Hence, there is no need of a judicial inquiry into the matter.”
Slamming the Congress party, Sreeramulu said, “Political parties like the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Popular Front of India (PFI) are supported by Congress leaders. The members of these parties have physically attacked both the BJP and Congress leaders many times. Instead of discussing this, the Congress party is wasting the time of the House.”
