Raichur: Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah said in Gillesugur village in the District on Friday that rather than issue an ordinance to raise the reservation for SC/STs, the government should convene a two-day legislative session to pass the Bill.
“Congress will support the Bill, and if it is passed, CM Bommai can go to Delhi to get Centre’s approval,” he added.
He said that the CM should do this instead of making excuses. The Nagamohan Das committee was formed to look into the quota problem during the Congress-JD (S) coalition government, he claimed, refuting Bommai’s claims that Congress is against the increase in the reservation. Congress MPs held a dharna within the House to demand the report’s implementation after the committee handed the report to the then-CM B. S. Yediyurappa, he added.
