Inspector on bail in Rs 5-lakh bribery case gets rousing welcome in Kotturu

Vijayanagara: A suspended police sub-inspector who was released on bail in a Rs. 5-lakh bribery case was given a grand welcome in his home town, Kotturu here.

The police personnel, Nagappa H. who was serving at Kotturu Town Police Station was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in December 2021 for allegedly demanding a Rs. 5-lakh bribe in a sand mining issue.

He was released on Wednesday January 12 from the District Jail on bail, and received a grand welcome in the evening. Loud music was played and flowers were showered on him. Following this, Nagappa and 12 others were booked for Covid protocol violation under Sections 143, 188, 268 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 5 of the Karnataka Epidemic Act.
