MANGALURU: Chitradurga MP Govind Karajol launched a scathing attack on Karnataka’s Congress-led government, accusing it of being deeply embroiled in corruption and sex scandals. Karajol declared that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had lost the moral right to stay in power and demanded his resignation, urging him to apologize to the state’s six crore people for administrative failures.
Addressing the media, Karajol referenced senior ministers’ claims of honey trap attempts and highlighted that several MLAs have reported around 48 such cases involving Karnataka politicians. “Can a government entangled in corruption and illegalities offer effective governance?” he questioned.
He further accused Siddaramaiah of betraying Dalits, citing the diversion of SC/ST welfare funds. Karajol pointed out that ₹11,444 crore was redirected in 2023-24, ₹14,000 crore in 2024-25, and only ₹7,000 crore has been allocated for 2025-26. He also flagged concerning statistics: 3,400 farmer suicides, 730 lactating mother deaths, 1,100 newborn fatalities, and 50 rape-murders since Congress assumed office.
Karajol criticised the government for fostering “vote-bank politics” by introducing exclusive degree colleges for Muslim girls, calling it divisive and likening it to past societal segregation. He denounced the 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts, asserting that reservations should be for the underprivileged, not based on caste or religion.
He reminded the government of Karnataka’s heritage of saints and harmony, censuring the recent suspension of 18 BJP MLAs. Karajol emphasized the opposition’s right to hold the government accountable without facing political retaliation.
