Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader is introducing recliner chairs in the Assembly lounge to ensure legislators can rest during the upcoming session, which begins on March 3. According to ANI, around 15 to 20 recliners will be rented, rather than purchased, and returned after the session concludes.

To improve attendance and prevent lawmakers from leaving after lunch, Khader is implementing this initiative alongside existing reforms. Free snacks and meals will continue to be provided, as in previous sessions.

Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra has raised concerns over the state’s financial health, warning of an impending crisis. In an open letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he claimed that Karnataka is on the brink of bankruptcy due to unfulfilled financial commitments, including a ₹7,000 crore debt in the transport sector and struggling Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMs).

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to present the state budget on March 7, with increasing scrutiny over Karnataka’s financial management.
