Bengaluru: Karnataka has been recognized for its outstanding contributions to wind power, securing 2nd place nationally for the highest wind power capacity commissioned in the year 2023-24.
Karnataka is awarded the 2nd place nationally for highest wind power capacity commissioned in the year 2023-24 at the commemoration event of ‘Global Wind Day ‘celebrations at Delhi.

Gujarat took the top spot, while Tamil Nadu claimed the 3rd position. This achievement underscores Karnataka’s commitment to renewable energy and its proactive measures in harnessing wind power to meet its energy needs.

K.P. Rudrappaiah, Managing Director, KREDL received the award from Honorable Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik, Bhupinder S Bhalla, Secretary MNRE, and Lalit Bohra, Joint Secretary MNRE.

Expressing his happiness, Minister for Energy, K.J. George said, “Hearty congratulations to the officials of Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) for their remarkable achievement in securing the second place nationally for the highest wind power capacity commissioned in the year 2023-24. Karnataka’s significant strides in the wind energy sector reflect its dedication to renewable energy and its vision for a sustainable and prosperous future”.

Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, Government of Karnataka, said “This achievement reflects our commitment to sustainable energy and our relentless efforts towards harnessing wind power. Our innovative policies in the energy sector continue to transform Karnataka into a powerhouse of renewable energy.”

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) celebrated ‘Global Wind Day’ on June 15th with the central theme of ‘Pawan–Urja: Powering the Future of India’. The event highlighted the significant advancements and achievements in the wind energy sector across the nation.
