Karnataka BJP MLC C.T. Ravi, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and 11 others were booked in a criminal case in Bengaluru on Tuesday for blocking public pathways and causing a disturbance during their poster campaign and protest against Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge.

The action followed a protest organized by the BJP leaders, demanding Kharge’s resignation in connection with the suicide of Bidar contractor Sachin Panchal.

According to a police spokesperson, the protestors gathered at Madhavnagar Junction and Race Course Road, accusing Kharge of being involved in the contractor’s death.

The police detained Ravi, Ravikumar, Umesh Shetty, Shivakumar, Kiran Kumar Kasale, Harsha Hegde, Venkat, Karunakar, Nagesh, Prashanth, and Yadhuveer Rajendra Murthy. Acting on their own initiative, the police filed a case, claiming the BJP leaders obstructed public movement and illegally pasted handbills on walls.
