
Karnataka coastline on high alert after Kashmir terror attack, security tightened
In the aftermath of the terrorist strike that took innocent lives in Pahalgam, Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka’s coastal regions have been placed under enhanced surveillance. In Udupi district, security efforts have been significantly ramped up.
The Indian Coast Guard and the Udupi district coastal security police are actively exchanging intelligence and executing joint patrol operations to safeguard the shoreline.
Round-the-clock patrolling
Fearing potential terrorist infiltration via sea routes, coastal security police have launched relentless patrols. Across Udupi district’s nine coastal police stations, 13 boats have been deployed to monitor maritime activity.
Fishermen on alert
Deep-sea fishermen have been urged to maintain vigilance and immediately alert authorities about any unusual boat movements or sightings of suspicious individuals.
Scrutiny at public hotspots
Search operations using dog squads are underway at Malpe Beach, local ports, Sri Krishna Math, railway stations, and other major religious and tourist sites. Intelligence agencies are gathering grassroots-level information through rural networks. As of now, no suspicious activity has been detected.
No Pakistani nationals found
District SP Dr Arun K confirmed that no Pakistani nationals are present in Udupi district, following strict verifications mandated by central and state authorities.
Coastal vigilance reinforced
Coastal Security Police SP Mithun H N stated that stringent monitoring along the 320 km coastline is ongoing, with heightened patrols at beaches and collaborative intelligence efforts with the Indian Coast Guard.
