In a notable development from the Karnataka government’s 2024-25 budget speech, it has been announced that the Anywhere Registration system will be extended across all districts in the state. Originally launched in Bengaluru Urban District in 2011 and subsequently implemented in Tumakuru and Belagavi districts in March 2024, this system has proven successful in streamlining document registration processes.

The Anywhere Registration system allows for the registration of documents at any sub-registrar office within a district, rather than being restricted to the office where the property is located. This expansion will now include Dakshina Kannada district, enhancing accessibility and convenience for residents. Previously, the public could only register documents at the specific sub-registrar office corresponding to the property’s location.

The benefits of the Anywhere Registration system are substantial. It promotes greater transparency in the registration process, helps prevent delays, and enables individuals to choose a sub-registrar office based on proximity and availability of slots. This system is expected to alleviate crowding at individual offices, distribute the registration workload more evenly among staff, and improve overall efficiency.

For instance, residents looking to buy or sell property in Mangaluru city will now have the flexibility to complete their registration at any sub-registrar office within Mangaluru Taluk, including locations such as Mulki, Bantwal, Puttur, Belthangady, Vitla, Sullia, or Moodbidri.
