In a major initiative to improve cancer treatment, the Karnataka government has committed to establishing cancer hospitals in the Kittur Karnataka and Kalyan Karnataka regions. A cancer hospital has already been inaugurated in Kalaburagi, situated in the Kalyan Karnataka area.

Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil revealed plans to build cancer care centers in Belagavi, Mandya, Karwar, Shivamogga, Tumkur, and Mysore in the near future.

Responding to a question from Congress Legislative Council member M Nagaraju, Minister Patil clarified that the construction of the cancer hospital in Belagavi has been delayed due to a lack of adequate space. The current district hospital facilities do not have enough room for the new cancer center, and efforts are underway to find a suitable location for the hospital.

This initiative forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to bolster healthcare infrastructure across Karnataka and provide citizens with advanced medical services, particularly in cancer care.

The establishment of these hospitals is aimed at making cancer treatment more accessible to people in underserved regions, addressing the growing healthcare needs of the population. With more centers planned, the Karnataka government is taking significant steps to enhance the medical landscape of the state.
