Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court is scheduled to hear former Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna’s appeal against his recent rape conviction on October 28, 2025. Revanna was sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court for raping a woman employed as a maid at his family’s farmhouse. The court also ordered him to pay ₹11.25 lakh in compensation to the victim.
Revanna’s legal team contends that the evidence presented by the prosecution is inconsistent with the victim’s complaint. They question the preservation of physical evidence, such as mattress stains, and the victim’s attendance at a housewarming ceremony at the farmhouse in 2023. Additionally, they argue that the victim did not report the alleged assaults to anyone during the period in question.
The division bench of Justices K.S. Mudagal and Venkatesh Naik T. has issued a notice to the state government seeking its response. The bench has also inquired whether a Special Public Prosecutor will represent the state in this matter.
Revanna has been in custody since May 2024, following his arrest upon returning from Germany after videos allegedly showing him assaulting women surfaced. He faces charges in multiple cases, including rape and sexual harassment.
