MLA Vedavyas Kamath fiercely countered minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s remark calling him a “pawn,” asserting, “I am no pawn—I am the guardian of my constituency.”
Addressing the media on Monday, February 17, Kamath accused the Congress of politicizing the inauguration of the Mangaladevi primary health centre. “The mayor and top officials launched the facility, but the Congress couldn’t tolerate it. So, they staged a re-inauguration, revealing their true face,” he remarked, calling it a slight against the Scheduled Community.
He condemned the Congress for shutting down the centre and displacing patients within four days, branding it a disgraceful political stunt. Challenging them to own up to the controversy, he declared, “If your administration is so transparent, let’s investigate and expose who is truly responsible.”
Kamath further criticized Congress for disregarding protocol by including former MLAs and party members in the re-inauguration. “If that’s allowed, should we start calling back ex-ministers for every government event?” he asked sarcastically.
The press briefing was attended by Ramesh Kandettu, Premanand Shetty, deputy mayor Bhanu Mathi, MCC member Purnima, and Ravishankar Mijar.
