KARNATAKA — The Karnataka High Court has directed the State’s Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police to alert all police stations about a woman identified as a “serial litigant.” This follows the court’s recent decision to quash one of her cases under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with cruelty against women by their husbands or in-laws.
Justice M. Nagaprasanna issued the directive to prevent further misuse of the legal system, noting that the woman had filed ten criminal cases against different men between 2011 and 2022. The court found a consistent pattern of litigation, including allegations of rape, cruelty, and criminal intimidation, which were deemed to be a misuse of the legal process.
Men’s rights activists have supported the court’s decision, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach in addressing such cases.
