Karnataka on Alert After Pahalgam Attack: Illegal Residents Under Scrutiny
Following the Centre’s ban on Pakistani nationals under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that the state is intensifying efforts to identify and deport undocumented foreigners. He affirmed that individuals staying unlawfully will be tracked and removed, underlining the state’s strict approach to national security.
In a recent statement to ANI, Parameshwara stressed the need for robust coordination with central agencies. “Those with extremist links will face uncompromising action. Central intelligence teams are already stationed in Bengaluru. If any sleeper cells surface, they will be reported instantly,” he said.
These statements came after a deadly terror strike in Pahalgam, where 26 tourists lost their lives — a massacre that has drawn comparisons to the 2019 Pulwama attack.
Expressing deep concern, Parameshwara questioned the apparent security breach: “With such advanced intelligence systems, how did this incident go unnoticed? Where did the assailants come from, and how did they execute such a horrific act?”
He emphasized that the group responsible must be hunted down and dismantled without delay. “This isn’t just another attack. It’s targeted and communal in nature — the victims were all Hindus. It demands urgent and unwavering action.”
The Minister also appealed to the Centre to act swiftly, stating that national security should override all political and diplomatic hesitations.
