The Government of India has approved 40 tourism projects across 23 states under the ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’ initiative, with a total funding of ₹3295.76 crore for FY 2024-25. These projects aim to enhance iconic tourist destinations, elevate their branding, and promote them globally.

Proposals were submitted by state governments, evaluated on criteria like accessibility, tourism infrastructure, sustainability, management, and potential for tourism growth. After assessment, Karnataka’s two key projects were selected:

  1. Ecotourism & Cultural Hub at Roerich and Devika Rani Estate, Tataguni, Bengaluru – ₹99.17 crore
  2. Development of Savadatti Yallammagudda, Belagavi – ₹100 crore

These projects are set to enrich Karnataka’s cultural heritage, provide eco-friendly travel experiences, and enhance tourism infrastructure. Local agencies will oversee the development, while the Ministry of Tourism will monitor progress to ensure timely execution.

Additionally, Karnataka is expanding its tourism promotion efforts, focusing on lesser-known destinations through online campaigns, participation in tourism events, and supporting local fairs and festivals.

With these initiatives, Karnataka is poised to offer enhanced travel experiences, attract more visitors, and bolster its economy, further solidifying its position on the global tourism map.
