Kodagu: A tragic incident unfolded in the Yadavanadu reserve forest of Somwarpet taluk, Karnataka, where a 62-year-old man, Girijanara Tammu, lost his life in an elephant attack.

Tammu’s body was discovered approximately 500 meters from Kuppadi haadi inside the forest. RFO Shailendra confirmed that the attack occurred three days ago. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gangadarappa, along with his team, inspected the site following the incident.

This marks yet another instance of human-wildlife conflict in Karnataka. Recently, a viral video from the Bandipur Tiger Reserve captured a dramatic moment where a wild elephant chased away a tiger attempting to attack its herd.

The increasing frequency of such encounters highlights the pressing need for measures to mitigate human-animal conflict in forested regions.
