Madikeri: In a precautionary measure to ensure public safety, DC Venkat Raj has imposed a restriction on the movement of all types of vehicles on National Highway 275 between Sampaje and Madikeri from 8 pm to 6 am daily, effective from June 18 to 22. This decision comes in light of a potential landslide threat on the right side of the road, posing a significant risk to vehicular traffic.

According to the Assistant Executive Engineer of the National Highway Sub-Division, heavy rainfall in the region has increased the likelihood of a hill collapse near Kartoji, between km 90.05 to 90.10, which could lead to a landslide and disrupt traffic flow. In view of this, the district administration has taken proactive measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

The restriction applies to all types of vehicles, except those used by emergency services and personnel engaged in natural disaster management. This move is aimed at minimizing the risk of accidents and ensuring the safety of commuters traveling on this stretch.

The district administration has advised travelers to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with the authorities in enforcing this restriction. The restriction will remain in place from June 18 to 22, and travelers are advised to check for updates before embarking on their journey.

The possibility of a landslide on this stretch has been attributed to heavy rainfall in the region, which has made the terrain prone to landslides. The district administration is working closely with the National Highway Authority to monitor the situation and take necessary measures to ensure public safety.

With this restriction in place, commuters are advised to exercise caution and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid any inconvenience. The district administration is committed to ensuring public safety and will take all necessary measures to mitigate any risks associated with landslides in the region.
