Suntikoppa, Kodagu: On Saturday, two individuals sustained injuries in separate incidents involving elephant attacks in Suntikoppa Hobli, Kodagu district.
In the first incident, Husain, a neeruganti (water supply manager), was attacked by an elephant at 7th Hosakote Andagove Paisari in Kodagarahalli gram panchayat limits. The attack occurred around 6 a.m. while Husain was supplying water to local households. The elephant, which had strayed from a nearby plantation, used its trunk to push Husain, causing him to fall into a storm water drain. Husain is currently receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Madikeri.
In a separate incident, a woman was injured by another elephant at Nallur in Athur Nallur gram panchayat. She is also undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Madikeri. RFO Devaiah has visited both sites to assess the situation.
Authorities are investigating these attacks, and efforts are underway to address human-wildlife conflict in the region.
