
BJP Leader and Trader Arrested for Objectionable Facebook Posts
KGF (Kolar district), dhns: Robertsonpet police arrested two individuals on Friday night, including a local BJP leader, Naveen Jain, and a trader, Chetan Bantia, following a public outcry over objectionable Facebook posts targeting the Muslim community. The arrested individuals had shared a controversial cartoon on their Facebook accounts criticizing the Muslim community’s stance on paying taxes.
The posts sparked significant outrage within the community, leading hundreds of members to gather outside the Robertsonpet police station, demanding the immediate arrest of the suspects and public apologies for the posts. In response to the escalating tension, Deputy Superintendent of Police Panduranga arrived at the scene to mediate and engage with community leaders.
Following discussions and the intervention of police officials, Naveen Jain and Chetan Bantia were taken into custody. The police also communicated with the protesting community members, assuring them of the legal actions being taken and urging them to maintain peace.
