Kolar: A black banner with the slogan “Free Palestine” appeared during the Eid Milad procession in Kolar on Monday, but was swiftly removed by the city police.

The procession, which began at MG Road and proceeded through the city’s main streets, displayed the banner in front of Anjuman-e Islamia. Inspector Sadananda led the police efforts to clear the banner, which was eventually taken down by members of the Muslim community.

The procession attracted thousands of participants, who also voiced their opposition to the central government’s plan to implement the Waqf Amendment Bill. Protesters displayed a banner calling for the immediate withdrawal of the decision, amidst tight security arrangements.

This incident highlights the growing solidarity with the Palestinian cause among Indian Muslim communities. However, the quick removal of the banner indicates that authorities are cautious about permitting political slogans that could be perceived as sensitive or controversial.
