Kolar: In a scathing attack, Minister K.H. Muniyappa has condemned the Governor’s decision to grant permission for the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, terming it “anti-democratic” and “unconstitutional.” Speaking to reporters in Vijayapura (Devanahalli) on Monday, Muniyappa announced plans to submit a complaint to the President against the Governor’s move.

Muniyappa criticised the Governor’s action, stating that it was unreasonable to demand the Chief Minister’s resignation over a trivial matter like land allotment. He emphasised that Siddaramaiah had not committed any mistake warranting resignation. The Minister revealed that the cabinet had unanimously decided that the Chief Minister should not step down under any circumstances.

Muniyappa declared that protests would be held across the state against the Governor’s unconstitutional move, and a request would be submitted to the President through the District Collector. He stressed the need for a continuous struggle, combined with legal action, to ensure that the Constitution’s provisions are not compromised and that democracy prevails.

The Minister alleged that opposition parties had hatched a conspiracy to topple the democratically elected government in the state. He accused them of playing tricks, unable to tolerate a backward-class leader as Chief Minister.

Muniyappa’s strong stance reflects the ruling party’s determination to fight against what they perceive as an unconstitutional move. The developments have sparked a political storm in the state, with the opposition demanding the Chief Minister’s resignation and the ruling party vowing to protect the democratically elected government.
