Kolar: The Karnataka cooperatives department has launched an investigation into alleged irregularities in the Kolar Milk Union (Komul) following a directive from the principal secretary.

The action comes in response to a letter from senior Congress MLA S N Narayanaswamy, who urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Cooperatives Minister Shivanand Patil to initiate a probe into suspected corruption during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 financial years.

The allegations include irregularities in the awarding of a contract to MVK Golden Dairy, manipulation in solar pump tenders, and questionable recruitment practices. The alleged incidents occurred when Malur Congress MLA K Y Nanjegowda served as president of Komul’s management committee.

Cooperatives Department Under Secretary Ranganath G issued the formal order to the registrar, mandating a detailed inquiry.

The outcome of the investigation is expected to shed light on the transparency and accountability mechanisms within cooperative institutions.
