In a significant step towards sustainable water management, The Art of Living and Ashirvad by Aliaxis have launched a groundbreaking project in Kolar, Karnataka, aimed at enhancing groundwater levels. This initiative spans 13 villages within the Arabikothanur Gram Panchayat and involves the construction of 270 recharge structures for rainwater harvesting.
Guided by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s vision, the project tackles the pressing issue of groundwater depletion through the strategic construction of boulder checks and recharge wells. With 56 structures already in place, these installations are vital for capturing and retaining rainwater, promoting its gradual absorption into the ground.
Commencing in April 2024 and set for completion by March 31, 2025, the project was inaugurated by notable community figures, highlighting the essential role of community participation. This collaborative effort not only addresses water scarcity but also sets a precedent for future water conservation projects in the region, promising enduring benefits for the local communities.
