KOLAR: A devastating accident early Saturday morning claimed the lives of three engineering students and left another with minor injuries on Kolar-Bangarpet Road. The incident occurred around 2:30 AM when their Audi car crashed into a roadside tree near Kolar.
The deceased have been identified as Harshavardhan from Hassan, Basavana Gowda from Ballari, and Prajwal from Bangarpet, all students of Reva University in Bengaluru. Sai Gagan, the fourth student, survived with minor injuries. According to the police, Prajwal, who was driving the vehicle, attempted to overtake a truck but lost control and rammed into the tree. The force of the collision was so severe that the car was extensively damaged and the bodies of the victims were thrown up to 15 feet from the impact site.
The group was en route to Kolar for Sai Gagan’s sister’s wedding preparations, scheduled for August 11. Basavana Gowda had traveled to Bangarpet to assist with the arrangements, and Harshavardhan had joined them recently. On Friday, the students borrowed the Audi from a friend to distribute wedding invitations in Bengaluru. Tragically, their journey ended in this fatal accident.
The bodies have been transported to the RL Jalappa Hospital mortuary for further procedures. This tragic incident underscores the need for road safety and the potential dangers of high-speed driving.
