Koppal, Karnataka: In response to the disturbing rape and murder case in Hampi, Karnataka Police have intensified security efforts, conducting raids and patrols across the region.

Superintendent of Police Ram L Arasiddi led a crackdown on homestays and resorts in Basapura, Anegundi, and Sanapur, verifying their legal documentation. Law enforcement has ramped up night-time surveillance to prevent illegal activities.

Authorities recently arrested the third suspect, identified as Saranabasava (27), a carpenter, who had fled to Chennai after the crime. He was tracked down by Gangavathi Rural Police and brought back to Karnataka for further proceedings.

“We have strengthened security in vulnerable zones, regularly inspecting resorts at night. In the last three months, 10 cases have been filed using NDPS kits, and our surprise checks will continue to ensure compliance,” stated an official.

The Karnataka State Women’s Commission has demanded strict action and a detailed legal report on the case, emphasizing the need for stronger safety measures in tourist areas. The March 6 crime involved two women, including an Israeli national, being assaulted, and their male companion was later found dead.

Authorities are committed to ensuring justice and preventing future incidents.
