A raging fire erupted in a paint shop on Railway Station Road in Koppal on Monday afternoon, sending thick smoke billowing into the sky. The blaze quickly spread, consuming more than 10 adjacent shops, primarily dealing in construction materials. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the inferno resulted in the complete destruction of materials worth lakhs of rupees.
The fire, which began around 3 pm in Mohan Meghraj’s paint shop, intensified rapidly, engulfing neighboring establishments. Responding swiftly, the district administration mobilized government and private fire tenders along with CMC water tankers to combat the blaze. Firefighters tirelessly battled the flames for over three hours before finally gaining control of the situation.
Superintendent of Police Yashodha Vantgodi stated, “The fire originated in a paint shop, though the exact cause remains under investigation.”
