In a concerning incident in Yelburga town, Koppal district, police arrested two youth for violating the flag code by replacing the Ashoka Chakra on the national flag with an Arabic inscription. This occurred shortly after Eid Milad and was reported after photos of the altered flag circulated on social media.

The flag, which featured the phrase “La Illah Illalla Mohammad Rasul Allah” and “Madina Masjid” in Arabic, was flown atop the BB Fathima Dargah. After receiving complaints from local residents, police visited the site and instructed the dargah authorities to remove the flag.

The arrested individuals, Mohammad Danish Kutubuddin Khazi and his brother Mohammad Adinan Khazi, confessed to crafting the flag themselves. The incident has raised alarms in the community, especially given recent tensions, prompting residents to urge police for heightened vigilance to prevent further disturbances.

Following a recent protest by a Hindu organization against a banner proclaiming “Free Palestine,” local leaders from both Hindu and Muslim communities have been convening meetings to promote communal harmony. Kannada writer Shivakumar Hiremath emphasized the importance of peace, urging leaders and elders to foster understanding and discourage activities that provoke communal unrest.
