Bengaluru: The State Government has now reserved 33 per cent of all jobs in all departments for outsourced women employees.

Chief Secretary P. Ravikumar issued a circular on Friday in this regard. There are 1.5 lakh outsourced employees in Karnataka now, out of 7.2 lakh sanctioned posts with 4.6 lakh employees. Women will now have access to 50,000 positions.

The circular stated that the State Government uses outsourcing to hire drivers, data entry operators, housekeeping staffs and other group D employees.  There is currently a 30 per cent reservation in direct recruitment for women in the Karnataka Civil Service to provide more opportunities for women.

The circular also mentioned that women can do equally well in outsourced jobs. As a result, all government employment and services that are outsourced should have a 33 per cent  reservation for women . Officials concerned should make this clear in any tenders for outsourced workers. While recruiting outsourced workers, the same should be stated in the memorandum of understanding with private agencies. All autonomous bodies, universities, urban local bodies, and other government offices are subjected to the 33 per cent reservation. Senior officials should ensure that it is implemented successfully.
