Bengaluru: A delegation led by Sivananda Tagaduru, President of Karnataka Working Journalists Association met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday and congratulated him. He expressed his gratitude for the announcement in the election manifesto of allocating a grant of Rs.500 crores for the welfare of journalists in the state.
Free bus pass for rural journalists, the inclusion of journalists in Yashasvini Yojana, an increase in compensation, necessary facilities through the labor department, and other demands were drawn to the attention of the Chief Minister and a request was made. It was requested allocate funds in the budget for district and regional newspapers without discrimination, the release of advertisements, sanction of pending bills, and incentive advertisements. The Chief Minister promised to look into the demands in the petition.
