Chikkamagaluru: Gift politics is in full swing in Sringeri Assembly Constituency in District, which is part of Malnad.
Congress Party workers have started an exercise to woo the voters and are busy distributing cookers in the Constituency. A load of cookers brought by Congress workers to distribute to voters has been taken into custody by the Police in the District as the Assembly elections are approaching.
The Jayapura Police have seized the cookers brought by Congress workers in a pick-up to be distributed near Jayapura in Koppa Taluk. The cookers were brought for distribution near a coconut house in Jayapura limits.
Responding to a question on distribution of sarees by BJP and JD (S) earlier, MLA T. D. Rajegowda said, “We will seek votes on basis of development. He said he would not offer any gifts to people. “But now the activists are giving gifts with their own photograph on the cooker box to the people. This is what our workers are giving in my name to commemorate the Amrit Mahotsav of independence,” said Rajegowda.
Two days ago, police had seized sarees brought by JD (S) Candidate Sudhakar Shetty for distribution. In all, three political parties have started gift politics in Sringeri Assembly Constituency, which has angered the conscious voters of the Constituency.
