Chikkamagaluru: Farmer loans up to Rs 5L at zero interest rate, says CT Ravi

Chikkamagaluru: MLA C. T. Ravi said thst Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has announced that the Government should not take any action for confiscation and auction of properties of those who have taken loans from commercial banks in addition to providing loans through the cooperative sector at zero interest rate in the State, he said.

Inaugurating the newly constructed building of Lakya Primary Agricultural Credit Co-operative Society, he said that a new building has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 90 Lakh, a DCC Bank branch will be opened at Kalasapura, besides providing loans at zero interest rate through the cooperative sector in the entire State.

“Farmers are not intentional loan defaulters. Due to crop destruction, when there is no rain, the farmer becomes helpless. The Central Government is giving subsidy to solve the problem of fertiliser. The government has also taken a decision to sell a single brand of fertiliser called Bharat Urea across the country,” he said, adding that under the Kisan Samman Scheme, Rs. 10,000 is being directly credited to the farmers’ accounts by the Central and State Governments and also crop compensation has been given under the Fasal Bima Yojana.

He said Rs 5.5 Crore will be released under The Jal Jeevan Yojana also called ‘Mane Manege Gange’ one of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream projects. Clean drinking water will be provided to every household through this project, road works are being carried out at a cost of Rs. 45 Lakh, and a permanent drinking water Scheme has been provided with a grant of Rs. 55 Crore to the panchayat, he added.
