Chikkamagaluru: India is a country with youth power. If everyone becomes skill-based, no country will have the capacity to hold on to India’s growth trajectory, said MLA C. T. Ravi.

He was speaking after inaugurating a job fair organised by the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood at IDSG College premises in the City. “Our country was skill-based. However, there was a lack of respect for every profession. There was also a sense of superiority and inferiority in the profession. If social respect had been given to all professions, if we worked respectfully, there would not have been any need to impart skill training, he noted.

“The original practitioners so not want their children to pursue their profession because their professions lack respect or dignity,” he said and added that if all the professions were given social respect and financial strength everyone would have had the job that comes naturally to them.

“Today, there is a problem of unemployment globally and in the country. Everyone is fond of Government jobs but it is not possible to provide Government jobs to everyone. However, is it not possible for everyone to live with confidence, he questioned. He said skill development training is about living with confidence.

“Those who are trained will have a lot of self-confidence. One can live anywhere with skilled jobs, but one has to be mentally prepared and feel that all jobs are respectable jobs,” he added.

“India is a country with a youth power and if everyone is skilled, no country has the capacity to compete with India. Instead of applying for a job, get experienced and give a job to someone else,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, IDSG College Principal Ramesh said that the number of youth in the country has increased and the country will become stronger when the youth are strong and stand on their own feet. He said that there are 3,500 job opportunities in the job fair and everyone should take advantage of this. This will instil confidence in the students, he observed.

Sub-Divisional Officer Rajesh, Skill Development Department Officer Prashanth, IDSG College staff and job aspirants were present on the occasion.
