Chikkamagaluru: Congress leaders are already making grand preparations to bring the party to power in the State. The Congress High Command, which has already announced tickets for most of the constituencies, today released the third list.
The Congress High Command had announced candidates for 124 seats in the first list and had announced the names of candidates for 42 constituencies in the second list. The third list has been released at a time when there is a sharp change in the State’s politics and the AICC has given tickets to 43 candidates.
In the third list of Congress candidates, Nayana Motamma has been given a ticket from Mudigere Reserved constituency. The Congress has given a ticket to Nayana Motamma despite stiff opposition from party workers. Some Congress workers had held a public meeting demanding a ticket for Nayana Motamma, daughter of former minister Motamma. Congress workers held a series of meetings and appealed to State leaders and National leaders not to give ticket to Motamma’s daughter Nayana Motamma. If Nayana is given a ticket, the Congress is sure to lose, they had stated.
Local party workers and leaders had also opposed giving the ticket to Nayana, saying the people of the constituency were not agreeing with her. She has already lost five times. In the meantime, I have retired from politics,” she has said. Most of the workers were of the view that if her daughter is given a ticket, the Congress party is guaranteed to lose. The Congress High Command has given ticket to Nayana Motamma despite opposition from workers. Hence, it remains to be seen what will be the next move of the workers of Mudigere Reserved constituency.
