Chikkamagaluru: Workers at a coffee plantation in the Town celebrated Pakistan’s victory. Four persons, believed to be from Assam, have been detained by the Police for celebrating Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World Cup.
The incident took place at a coffee plantation near Balehonnur in NR Pura Taluk. Four persons from Assam were taken into custody by the police.
Pakistan had won the T20 World Cup against New Zealand. Miscreants celebrating Pakistan’s victory shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in the estate. Locals and other labourers immediately brought the matter to the notice of the estate owners. Estate manager informed the police.
Balehonnur Police has registered a case and launched an investigation. Police has taken the four accused into custody and are interrogating.
These coffee plantations are alleged to have been illegally occupied by Bangladeshis in the guise of Assamese labourers.
