Chikkamagaluru: The District Administration has given gunmen protection to two Hindu priests and a member of the Committee after Datta Jayanti was celebrated in harmony at Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swamy Dargah here.
Priests Dr. Sandeep Sharma and Sringeri K. Sridhar were appointed to perform the puja at Dattapeetha during the Datta Jayanti programme. Though Datta Jayanti is over, the priests have stationed there.
Two Hindu priests and Basha, a Muslim member of the Governing body, have been given gunmen protection by the District Administration after Muslim organisations protested against the Government for not allowing Muslims to worship.
