Chikkamagaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday November 27 said that the compensation given to the families of those killed in wild animal attacks has been increased from Rs. 7.5 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh.

Addressing the gathering at the BJP Jan Sankalpa Conference in Koppa here he said that steps have been taken to appoint a separate Deputy Conservator of Forest and a squad of 50 people in each District for elephant herd control. He assured that the privilege of the Vidyanidhi Yojana implemented for the children of farmers will be extended to the children of tailors as well.

He said that Revenue Minister R. Ashok has chalked out a permanent solution to the problem of encroachment of Government lands by the coffee growers. He assured that we will make a plan to solve problems and help the growers. He said a grant of Rs. 10 Crore has been released for drug spraying to prevent the spread of leaf rust disease affecting areca. He said that the team of scientists is working to find medicine to cure the disease.

He said that there has been a long struggle under the leadership of C. T. Ravi regarding moola pooja in Dattapeeta. As a result of the struggle, good days have come, and legally it has also reached a stage. He said the construction of ‘Rope Way’ from Mullayanagiri to Dattapeeta section has been announced in the Budget. He said that this work will start soon.

He promised that he would come and lay the foundation stone for the construction of a 100-bed hospital in Sringeri within the next two months.

Addressing the gathering BJP National General Secretary C. T. Ravi expressed confidence that Hindu priests will perform the pooja in Datta Jayantyotsava this time. He said the hindrances in the appointment of Hindu priests in Dattapeeta will be cleared in the next three days. He expressed hope that the pooja will be performed in the peeta.
