Cow dung worth Rs 1.25 Lakh stolen in Birur

Chikkamagaluru: In a bizarre incident of theft, cow dung worth Rs 1.25 Lakh was stolen from the custody of the Animal Husbandry Department a couple of days ago. The incident occured in Birur district of Karnataka.

The officials of the department have filed a complaint with the Birur police. The complaint states that 25 to 40 tractor loads of cow dung have gone missing.

Speaking to Times of India, Sathyarnaya Swamy, Circle Police Inspector (CPI), Birur, said that the Joint Director with the Department of Animal Husbandry approached the Yagati police station with a complaint regarding the theft. “The officials alleged that the cow dung was stored at the Basur Amritmahal Kaval under Yagati police station limits from where it has now been shifted to a private land in the locality. The owner of this land has also been named in the First Information Report (FIR),” Swamy added.

Birur police have arrested a supervisor of the Animal Husbandry Department and further investigations are on.
