Chikkamagaluru : An FIR has been filed against five unidentified individuals for reportedly conducting a “homa” (ritualistic fire ceremony) outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Chikkamagaluru and attempting to besiege it. The incident occurred after activists from the VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) and Bajrang Dal were denied permission to perform a puja at Sri Guru Dattatreya Baba Budan Swamy Dargah to commemorate the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Assistant Commissioner Daljith Kumar lodged a complaint leading to the registration of an FIR at Chikkamagaluru town station. According to the complaint, the unknown individuals forcibly tried to enter the main entrance of the DC office by pushing the door. Their unauthorized protest disrupted government work, and the Assistant Commissioner urged legal action against them.

On Monday, the police apprehended all the activists involved in the homa and took them to Basavanahalli station. Subsequently, they were released.
