Chikkamagaluru: A child, they say is the greatest gift of God. There are many who remain deprived of this gift and often resort to god to bestow them this gift.
However, in Chikkamagaluru, happiness of a couple and the entire family of the couple knew no limits when they found a bundle of joy abandoned near woods. But, this happiness was short lived.

It is said that a local residence of Kadur named Asha Bi had found one day old baby boy abandoned in the woods. When she took the baby in her arms, the little one was in bad state as ants had infested his body.

The little life brought in joy to Asha Bi’s life because her son and daughter in-law yearned for a baby and they remained devoid of the joy of being called parents. The abandoned baby changed the life for the entire family over the last two months.

However, when the Child Welfare Committee members came to know of the same issue, they came over to Asha Bi’s house and claimed the baby because what Asha Bi did was illegal.

Having been separated from apple of their eyes, the family remained crying and pleading outside Bal Mandir and after a while, Asha Bi’s husband, daughter in-law and son collapsed. They have been admitted to a local hospital.

However, the incident has sparked a discussion and the locals are confused. On one hand is a couple which had taken good care of an abandoned child and on other hand stands the CWC which is doing its job.
