Chikkamagaluru: State minister for co-operation and sugar H S Mahadeva Prasad died due to cardiac arrest, here on Tuesday, December 3. He was 59.
Prasad had come to Chikkamagaluru on Monday evening due to some programme. After a dinner with close friends, he had gone back to his room on Monday night.
It is said that Prasad, who was supposed to go out for a walk at 5.45 to 6 am, did not come out of his room on Tuesday morning. Further, several people who came to the resort to meet too waited for over two hours. The news of his death came to light around 9.45 am when district Congress president Vijaykumar along with some others went to his room and found him dead.
Halahalli Shreekantha Shetti Mahadeva Prasad was born on August 5, 1958 in Gundlupet. He was elected to Assembly five times from Gundlupet. Prasad had previously been minister of food and civil supplies and consumer affairs, and Kannada and culture. He is the district in-charge minister of Chamarajanagar. He had started his political in Janatha Dal and was considered to be close friend of CM Siddaramaiah.
With the news of his death, pall of gloom took over old Mysuru region.
His last rites will be performed in his native village of Halanahalli, Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar on Wednesday after the mortals remains are brought to his Kuvempunagar residence.
He is survived by his wife Dr Geetha, son Ganesh Prasad and other family members.
