Chikkamagaluru: A farmer named Chandregowda (55) committed suicide by consuming poison for not getting necessary flood relief, here on Thursday, October 3.
According to the reports, Chandregowda, who is a resident of Mudigere taluk has taken this decision because he had lost half acre each of coffee plantation and paddy in the recent floods. He had taken loan for the cultivation purpose.
Chandregowda is said to have been expecting relief fund from the government, which he did not receive. As a result he resorted to taking such an extreme step.
A case has been registered in Kalasa Police Station.
