Chikkamagaluru: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karndlaje has dubbed the organizations supporting the ‘Bharath bundh’ on January 8 as relatives of the ‘Tukde Gang’.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, January 7, she said, “The people of the country should understand the motive of some of the organizations who have called for a nation-wide protest on January 8. Our main aim should be to work for the betterment of the nation. The relatives of the ‘Tikde Gang’ have given a call for a ‘Bharath bundh’, which I’m sure will fail miserably.”
Slamming the protesters, she said, “The nation has seen enough of protests and violence against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). The BJP is making a sincere effort in terms of understanding and educating the people of the country about the CAA. I urge the police department to arrest the protesters who take part in the Bharat bundh immediately.”
